Steps to create a Hotmail account
The process for creating the Hotmail account is as follows:
- Step 1
Using your web browser, go to the website of Outlook at www.outlook.com. You can see the link to create account on the top right side of the webpage.

Click on the “Create Account” link. You will be taken to the Microsoft create account page.

Enter the password you want to use for your Hotmail account in the “create password” field below the username field. Create a password which contains alphabets and letters and make it difficult to guess for others. The password should have at least 8 characters and are case sensitive. If Microsoft accepts the given password, then proceed to the next step.

Below the password field you can see the box with the option “Send Me Promotional Emails from Microsoft”. Uncheck this box if you want to prevent the promotional mails from Microsoft reaching your mail account. Do not uncheck the box if you want to receive the Microsoft promotional emails.

To continue the account, creating process, click on the blue colored “Next” field at the bottom of the page.

You will reach the “Add Details” page where you will be asked to enter your first name and last name in the fields provided.

After entering your first name and last name in the respective fields, click on the “next” button at the right bottom of the page.

Next, select your country or region from the drop-down menu. Hotmail or outlook will automatically detect your current location and usually will fill this field for you.

In the birth date field, enter your date of birth. From the drop down menu of the month box, select the month you were born. Enter the birth date and year in the next two fields using the drop down menu provided.

Click the “Next” field in blue color at the bottom right.

You need to add security info on this page. The country code from which you are accessing the Hotmail account will automatically get displayed in the field.

Enter your phone number to get the code to verify your phone number to make your account secure. By giving your mobile number you are adding a second level of security to your account, the first being your password. The two-step verification can be used by the Hotmail customers during the sign in process to ensure security of their account. A specific code will be sent to the registered phone number every time you try to access the account.

To prove that you are a human trying to create a new Hotmail account, enter the special verification code or captcha in the box provided. You can generate new code by clicking on the “new” button if needed. You can also get the code read aloud by clicking the “Audio” button.

Click on “Send Code” field to get the code number send to your phone and click “Next”

Enter the access code send to your phone in the field provided and click “Next” button. If you have entered the verification code correctly, you will get your account created.
